"Not even I'm sure what
this piece is 'about.' It was done as a science fiction/fantasy concept
for promotional purposes, but was uncommissioned and never
previously published. The only background I can relate is that I was attempting
to demonstrate perspective, architectural detail, and figure drawing in
a composition influenced by the Art Nouveau artists. The deeply receding,
vaulted interior was supposed to be distinctly Gothic, but was never intended
to represent a church or cathedral, as some have suggested.
