"This illustrated an unfinished (and hence unpublished) novel. The image was metaphorical, representing a starship's captain playing a proverbial fiddle while the ship he captains goes to ruin.
"I loved this opportunity to run with my concept of a universe unencumbered by Star Trek or Star Wars stereotypes. In this universe the ship takes on the form of a massive, twin-prowed behemoth with multiple decks, resembling something akin to a battleship or cruiseliner."
