"Part of a series of illustrations
for Kensington Technologies (which had changed its name to Kingston by
the time this ad was produced). The client wanted an edgy, high-tech look,
which at the time meant surrealistic. The success of their first ad in
this series (see the 'Kensington ad') prompted this spin-off, and a series
of increasingly sillier concepts which don't fit the science fiction category
at all. "The product was a removable drive that could be stored remotely or ported to other computer systems. Like the Kingston ad, this was drawn to the client's specifications. It's even less science fictiony than the 'improve your memory' ad, but it still has a futuristic appeal. — Jon Fraze |
