won a Maggie Award for best cover, trade magazine, although I suspect
the photo illustration had more to do with that than the design, per
se. I created the illustration by melding images of a cell phone with
a twisted soft rubber toy. It was intended to convey the concept that
implementing 3G technology threatened to wring the last dollars out of
the cellular providers ... although the editors added a secondary pun
with the 'Surprise Twists' headline."—Jon Fraze
